Sasaki and Miyano: Graduation to Stream on Crunchyroll September 28

The Boy's Love anime film from Studio Deen, "Sasaki and Miyano Graduation," is set to arrive on Crunchyroll later this month. The first cinematic installment of Sasaki and Miyano, depicting the emotional departure of the main characters from high school, made its debut in Japanese theaters earlier this year.

The anime streaming service Crunchyroll recently announced that the Sasaki and Miyano film will be available for viewing starting September 28th at 5:00 PM in all major regions except Asia. To commemorate the upcoming release, Crunchyroll also unveiled an English-dubbed trailer for the film on their official YouTube channel.

The first theatrical film of Sasaki and Miyano features the same creative team as the anime series. Shinji Ishihira (Fairy Tail) and Yoshiko Nakamura continue their roles as Director and Screenwriter, respectively.

Masaki Mayuzumi and Makii Fujii return to their respective roles as Art Director and Character Designer. Miracle Chimpanzee, who performed the opening song for Sasaki and Miyano, also provides the theme song for Graduation. As for the cast, Yusuke Shirai (Tokyo Mew Mew New) and Soma Saito (Haikyuu!!) reprise their roles as Sasaki Shumei and Yoshikazu Miyano, respectively.

The Sasaki and Miyano manga by Sho Harusono debuted on the online manga platform "Comic Pixiv" in 2016. The series follows Yoshikazu Miyano, a shy high school student who admires BL manga. His life changes forever when he meets Sasaki Shumei, a kind-hearted upperclassman who catches Miyano's attention when he intervenes in a fight to protect a younger boy. Since that day, Sasaki starts to learn more about Miyano.

Eventually, they develop feelings for each other and begin dating. Graduation portrays their efforts to maintain their relationship as they move on to the next stage in their lives.

The anime adaptation of Sasaki and Miyano premiered in January 2022. The franchise as a whole is widely regarded for its sensitive and wholesome portrayal of high school romance within the BL genre.

In October 2022, the manga, currently consisting of nine tankobon volumes, had sold over 1.7 million copies worldwide. Its popularity also led Harusono to publish a spin-off manga in 2011 titled "Hirano and Kagiura," which follows the relationship between Sasaki and Miyano's classmates, Taiga Hirano and Kagiura Akita.

Like Sasaki and Miyano, this series continues to be ongoing, with new chapters released regularly in Monthly Comic Gene magazine. Season 1 of Sasaki and Miyano is available, both subbed and dubbed, on Crunchyroll. The manga and its spin-off are available in English from Yen Press.
