Lee Hyeri from Girl’s Day is returning to the small screen with a surprising new drama. The idol and actress is confirmed to star in a GL (Girl Love) drama titled ‘Friendly Competition’ which is adapted from the popular webtoon by CHAE-YUN SONG and JAE-YEONG SIM.
The drama tells the story of Woo Seul Gi, a transfer student who enters an elite girls' high school in Seoul after her father's sudden death. There, she befriends Yoo Jei, the best student in the class who also has a dark side. The drama is a psychological thriller that reveals the secrets behind a mysterious death at the school.
In the drama, Hyeri will possibly play the role of Yoo Jei, a smart and talented girl who is the idol of the school. She has a high IQ and ability, but also hides a past trauma. She becomes interested in Seul Gi, who is a victim of bullying at school. The two then get involved in a complicated and dangerous love relationship.
The news of Hyeri's casting as the lead role in the GL drama received positive responses from South Korean netizens.
